Obviously we love starting our days with oats. They’re a simple household staple that makes even the busiest mornings the best mornings. But there are so many other amazing ways to use oats. Here are a few of our favorite oat recipes—and they have nothing to do with breakfast.

Homemade Oatmeal and Yogurt Face Mask

The benefits of pure oats go far beyond filling you up with fiber and reducing your cholesterol levels. Adding oats into your skincare routine can help you reduce redness and inflammation from environmental toxins. Simply add half a cup of hot water to a third a cup of pure, gluten-free oats. Give the mixture a stir and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, add two tablespoons of plain yogurt with two tablespoons of raw honey and one egg white. Mix well.

Gently pat the mixture all over your face, making sure to avoid your eyes. Let it sit until the mixture begins to dry, and then wash off with warm water. For best results, repeat weekly.

Oats provide the best base for an exfoliating, moisturizing skin scrub. Simply mix a quarter cup of pure oats with two tablespoons of unrefined coconut oil and one teaspoon of almond or olive oil. Then, toss in one tablespoon of cane sugar crystals. Use this decadent scrub on your arms, legs, and feet, and wash away with warm water. Your skin will be left feeling so much softer.

DIY Hair Mask

Oats are incredible all on their own, so you don’t need much more for the perfect DIY hair mask. Pure, large flake oats have a healthy dose of hair-helping vitamin B, so simply add one cup of oats to one cup of whole milk and work into your hair from the scalp to the roots. Leave in as you would any other conditioner, and rinse well. This is an effective treatment option for dandruff and itchy scalp—plus, it will give your hair the most amazing shine. For best results, do this hair mask twice a month.
